London Engagement Shoot – Naomi and Craig – St Katherine’s Dock and London’s South Bank
Naomi, Craig and I met at the ExCel Wedding Exhibition in September of last year. They loved the feel of my work, and Naomi and I met up again to discuss their big day in more detail. Before we knew it, we’d chatted for over two hours, and I was truly delighted when they contacted me to say they’d love me to photograph their wedding this coming April.
Craig is in the Royal Navy and was stationed away at that point, so scheduling a pre-wedding shoot was a little challenging, but we held our breaths and kept fingers crossed for good weather on Wednesday 25th March for a shoot starting in St Katherine’s Dock. Naomi is stationed near the river, so that entire area of London is particularly special to them and I am very grateful to the management of St Katherine’s Dock for granting us permission to photograph there.
With a few warm up shots to get Naomi and Craig both comfortable along the way, we arrived at The Sundials to begin our shoot in earnest! The sun had just set and we got our lights and flashes out to get some stunning ‘creative light’ shots. Despite the freezing cold, it was just a pleasure to spend a few more hours in Naomi and Craig’s company. The few moments when I would ask Naomi to look slightly more whistfully at her husband-to-be were short lived as she found it difficult to supress her thoroughly infectious smile!
It just so happened that our shoot coincided with filming for Mission Impossible 5 – so we were lucky enough to have a little help with lighting for some of the images taken on Tower Bridge. At one point the lights were so bright it really did feel like daytime!
I’m so pleased with the images we managed to get – and my thanks to Alex Beckett for being my lighting assistant on the day. A huge thanks again to Naomi and Craig for just being thoroughly brilliant in every way – and I absolutely can’t wait for their wedding in April.
